THE JOB
AFPTV is seeking a motivated Video Journalist for a full-time video Germany coordinator position in our Berlin bureau starting in March 2026.
Your role will be to organise the video coverage of Germany by coordinating and supervising AFP’s video journalists in Berlin, Munich and Frankfurt. You will also be increasingly involved in the video coverage coordination of AFP’s Central European region. You may become responsible for this region later in the job.
You will also help recruit, train and coordinate a network of freelancers. You will keep a contact book of third-party video providers, especially those offering live feeds of news events.
You will shoot and edit news and feature stories, as well as live streams and make sure agendas are up to date. You will also play a key role in organising pools.
Reporting to the AFP TV Europe Editors-in-Chief in London and to the Berlin bureau chief and his deputy, you will be skilled at setting up, shooting, scripting, voicing and editing news and feature packages as well as delivering very high-quality b-roll edits.
The role involves some travel across Germany, and occasionally elsewhere depending on the agency’s needs.
The video team in Germany is composed of five full-time journalists: the coordinator and two VJs based in Berlin, a VJ in Munich and one in Frankfurt. AFP also relies on a network of freelancers and third-party providers.
You will have to maintain the credibility and reliability of our coverage and respect the agency's editorial policy and copyright guidelines.
Candidates should be familiar with using social media as a news-gathering tool. They will also be comfortable sourcing user generated content and applying AFP’s editorial guidelines concerning the use of UGC.
You must be prepared to work flexible hours, especially early in the morning, but also some evenings and weekends.
In an ever-changing media environment, the nature of the job could evolve in line with coverage needs and the requirements of an increasingly diverse client base.
